The large valley of Trevelin is a characteristic Patagonian landscape, with the background of blue snow-capped mountains, vast plains covered by plantations when not by native flora, and the typical preminitory breeze of the southern wind.
On the different outings you can admire nature in all its splendor, aswhen you travel south to Corcovado, Carrenleufú or even farther to lake Vintter. From Carrenleufú you can cross the frontier to Palena, and if you feel like going on a day outing, return to Trevelin through Futaleufú.
Once in town, traces and cultivations from old productions will allow you to learn how the first horse driven flour mill worked and imagine the epopee carried out by the first settlers.
The traces left by the Welsh colony will be seen both in the rural and the urban area of Trevelin.
The Regional Museum in the building of the old Andes Mill treasures machinery, tools, costumes and hundreds of elements from ordinary life during the colony. On the way to the frontier towards Los Cipreses along trails in the forest there are three beautiful waterfalls Nant&Fall. Along the same road is the magnific reconstruction of a water mill and museum Nant & Fach on the slope that dominates the valley in all its splendor. In the urban area is the grave of the famous horse Malacara.
In INTA's greenhouse, on the route to the dam and the school village, there is an excellent interpretation trail within exhuberantconifer plantations.
Trevelin is also the start point to visit Los Alerces National Park, a spectacular territory that unlike Nahuel Huapi and Lanín Parks has no city within its boundaries. Los Alerces offers different well signaled hiking trails, motor boat outings to the grandiose larch wood, and many beaches on the shore of lake Futalaufquen and river Arrayanes. Along these trails you can enjoy larch woods, cane thickets, and ferns endemic of the valdivian rainforest. Cycling, walking, horse riding, rowing, fly-casting and other sports can be practised in dream-like places.
Trevelin is beautiful in summer, but also during the other seasons. Fall dresses the hillsides with incredible colors, and spring with wild flowers. In winter snow decorates everything and invites you to ski.
