HI Travel

Starting from S. S. de Jujuy to HUMAHUACA by national route nº 9 and then an unpaved rout 25 km north to Humahuaca runs Norths East to ITURBE, a little village that is a stop on the way to Iruya.

We cross Grande River and continue to the highest point that is theAbra del Condor over the 4000 m.a.s.l. also the border between Jujuy and Salta and the view of the way that goes down and the little villages on the other side of the canyon is just amazing. As we start going down we cross a river few time and reach a beautiful village of IRUYA with its steep narrow streets and colorful mountains always overfly-ed by Condors and other smaller birds.

Lunch in a local Restaurant and go for a walk to the highest point of the town to feel the pure atmosphere. After this visit we return climbing this canyon to get back to Humahuaca and Jujuy.

It is not by chance that Iruya was chosen for an important publicity of a bank that it indeed announces that it arrives at anywhere. Precisely it means that the small town arises in the middle of an imposing and devastating place. After crossing the river in many opportunities Iruya appears like hunging by the mountains, with its steep streets and its old church, which make the visitors travel in the time for several centuries.
